A Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff

Newport’s Island Moving Co. presents its unique Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff, a resetting of the classic Christmas ballet as a site specific theatrical experience in Newport’s most romantic mansion. The production opens on Friday, November 23, on Thanksgiving weekend, with afternoon and evening shows through November 30th.

Opening night, Friday, November 23rd, includes a gala reception with the cast after the show. Tickets will be available through www.arttixri.com beginning October 1st. Ticket prices range from $75 to $25.  Tickets for the gala are $125 and available through the Island Moving Co. at 401 847-4470. 

A Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff is choreographed by IMC Artistic Director Miki Ohlsen, Eva Marie Pacheco and Michael Bolger. The production takes full advantage of the spectacular setting, as audience members move through the story with the dancers. Guests begin in the dining room as part of the party scene and continue through to the sweeping sweetheart staircase, where the fight between mice and soldiers takes place. The cast includes the dancers of the Island Moving Co. as well as 100 children in two casts, from dance studios throughout Rhode Island.  Bob Colonna returns as Godfather Drosselmeier.
