Island Moving needs help housing performers
JULY 30, 2007 —Island Moving Co. is working on a great new project called Newport Stories for our Open for Dancing (Interlude) weekend September 22 & 23.
This year, we are collaborating with John Pantalone and Christopher Eastburn to create a cross-discipline work that combines historical and contemporary Newport Stories, expressed in text, singing and dancing. Chris was the composer for Danny McCusker’s field work at Ballard Park in 2002 for the first Open for Dancing and for Consent to Gravity, which we took to the Getty Museum.
Chris has composed some wonderful songs for Newport Stories using poems from old collections and Balancing the Tides. He’s planning to have them sung by his Family Folk Chorale, an award-winning chorus made up of families ranging in age from 10 to whatever. They all want to come! We need your help to house them for Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22. There could be as many as 30 people coming, so if you have any ideas for us, please forward this email along or let me or Lori Meadows, our Company Manager, know.
Newport Stories may also have roles for other people who would like to participate and we’ll keep you up to date on that.
Thanks for any help you can give us.
